DIY and Insourcing . . .

DIY has traditionally been thought of as handyman type work around the house . . . I have always thought of it beyond simple household fixes. Now, there is a new term being bandied about-- "insourcing". Insourcing is the fancy name that DIY has been given in the new, poor economy.
Personally, I don't care what we call it . . . there is a decided shift toward frugality and self reliance-- DIY or insourcing are just the major outward signs of the shift.
People are coming to realize they can:
- Vegetable garden
- Hunt or fish food sport and food
- Do repairs and improvements around the house
- Maintain their own vehicle
- Mend their own clothes
- Cook decent meals at home
- Do their own nails and hair coloring
- Shirt ironing and shoe polishing
- Yard landscaping and upkeep
These are just a few of many examples . . .
People either can't or now choose not to pay the premiums of having these tasks performed by others . . . they are now "Insourcing."
What have you recently personally "insourced"?
