One of the best frugal activities is fishing-- fun and good eats.  This is the third of a series to get you started.  The subject of this post is identifying spots and finding fish,-- here are ways to do it:

• Use the angler's guide-- it's free from the state when you get your license 
• Use the map-- I have one marked with post-its and pencil marks
• Look for shady and/or deep spots-- When you are at the river or lake or pond look for shady spots on the water 
• Rocks-- Fish look for cover and protection 
• Downed trees and bushes-- Usually "snag city", but the risk pays off big, because that's where the fish are hiding

After a few outings you will start to get a "feel" for the hot spots-- practice and experience makes better.
