Wilderness Survival Skills: Clubbing Fish For Survival

Clubbing fish for survival purposes is an active fishing method that employs sight fishing and using a blunt object to kill or stun fish by hitting them with the weapon. As for a weapon, name implies using a limb, shovel, or handle to beat your prey. It isn't very graceful, but it can be successful.
Most fisherman engage in clubbing fish as a way to subdue a catch that may pose a danger, but I don't think it is legal anywhere, except for survival situations.
Here is what you need:
- Fishing priest or club
- Axe or tool handle
- Improvised limb (Be sure it is solid)
Here is what to do:
- Sight fish in swallow spots that have active fish traffic
- Target and lead the fish (Aim in front or to where the fish will move to)
- Hit your prey and secure clubbed fish quickly (Sometimes it takes more than one blow . . .)
Again, clubbing fish isn't graceful, but it works.
The time to learn survival fishing methods is before you need to use them.
Bear in mind some of these techniques are probably illegal in your state-- EXCEPT in true survival situations. It is best to check your local regulations.
