How to Get Better in the Kitchen . . .

So, you want to get better in the kitchen?  This is very easy, and very tough.  The answer is to spend time in the kitchen.  Cook for yourself and your family.

Like anything else in life, cooking and kitchen skills get better with practice.

As time goes by, you will be able to whip up meals with what you have on hand.  Furthermore, you will get experimental-- with success.  Case in point, I started by depending on recipes-- now I can "wing it" and make experimental modifications, because I learned what worked and how to use ingredients.  When I use recipes now, it is to try something completely different or go in new directions.

The biggest improvement I have noticed in myself, is the ability to prepare multiple components of a meal and have them all ready around the same time-- this is a big challenge.

Practice may not make perfect, but it definitely makes better . . .
