Self Reliance and Checklists

In striving for more self reliance, you start to realize the value of being prepared. There is no better way to be prepared than by using checklists. Aircraft pilots always use checklists to confirm that all systems are a "go"-- this is critical because lives can depend on it. For self reliant people, it may not be life and death (sometimes it might be), but it is important.
A good checklist includes not just what you WILL need, but also what you MIGHT need.
While many of us have good memories, there are times of brief mental lapses-- do want to risk losing your life, ruining a trip, or missing an opportunity? Me neither. Here are some of the types of checklists you may want to consider:
- Shopping lists
- Survival gear checklists
- Emergency contacts and procedures checklist
- Travel checklists
- Tool lists
These are just a few to get you started thinking about checklists. In the next few days, I will do some specific checklists-- if you can't wait try this one: Fishing From a Small Boat: A Gear Checklist For Fishermen.
