If you love fishing ad want to do it frugally, you need to get your bait on the cheap or free. Here are a few ideas on how:

• Worms from the garden
• Frogs from the garden or pond
• Insects from the yard
• Water insects with a scoop net
• Netting or trapping small bait fish
• Sabiki rigs to get minnows
• Use legal by-catch (Legal is usually panfish only)

Catching bait near the intended fishing grounds keeps you on target to catch more fish because you are tapping the fish food supply-- best of all, the bait is free!
