Emergency Preparedness: The Importance of Disaster Drills

When is the best time to figure out what to do in an emergency? Before you find yourself in the emergency! You may not have time to think-- just act. Disaster drills can help.
Emergencies can come in many shapes and forms:
- Fire
- Flood
- Hurricane/Tornado
- Accident
- Bomb or explosion
- Crime
Do you and more importantly, your family know what to do? A smart, self reliant move would be to:
- Plan
- Review
- Practice
Make sure the kids know the plan. Test them from time to time. Have a run-through practice.
The family should know:
- What to do
- Where to meet
- Who to go to or contact
- When to act
- Why it is important
- How to do the right things that can save lives
It may seem a little silly, but better safe, than sorry.
