DIY Fishing Gear: How to Make a Fishing Line Stripper

Ever need to strip surf fishing line off a reel? Here is a quick and frugal DIY fishing gear project-- a line stripper anyone can make for themself.
Here is what you need:
- Power drill and drill bit
- Nut, bolt, and washer
- Tape 2 pieces about 1 inch each
- Plastic 16 or 20 oz. Coke or water bottle

Here is what to do:
- Drill the cap
- Insert washer and bolt
- Tighten nut to bolt
- Put cap on bottle
- Lock bolt into drill
- Tape end on line to bottle
- Start winding line slowly onto bottle
- Tape other end when line is completely on bottle

Easy and cheap– maybe $1.75 for the Coca Cola and the hardware.
Simply put the new line on your reel.
Now, go get some fish!
