Ever need to strip surf fishing line off a reel? Here is a quick and frugal DIY fishing gear project-- a line stripper anyone can make for themself.

Here is what you need:

• Power drill and drill bit
• Nut, bolt, and washer
• Tape 2 pieces about 1 inch each
• Plastic 16 or 20 oz. Coke or water bottle

Here is what to do:

• Drill the cap
• Insert washer and bolt
• Tighten nut to bolt
• Put cap on bottle
• Lock bolt into drill
• Tape end on line to bottle
• Start winding line slowly onto bottle
• Tape other end when line is completely on bottle

Easy and cheap– maybe $1.75 for the Coca Cola and the hardware.



Simply put the new line on your reel.

Now, go get some fish!
