Woodheat Tips: How to Limb or Strip a Felled Tree
Many self reliant people use wood to heat their homes. Some rely on firewood for all heating and some simply supplement or offset their oil, gas, or electric heat with woodheat. Here are some wood heat tips on how to limb (or strip) a tree:
- Check if the limb or branch is under pressure
- Carefully relieve pressure points (No need to get smacked)
- Clip away small small branches with clippers
- Use the chainsaw to trim down the branches beyond kindling size
- Now start bucking or chunking it into rounds until you reach the trunk of the tree
Once the limbs are cleared, it is time to buck rounds from the felled tree . . .
