Low Profile Living: Cover Your Tracks

I try to live a private, low profile life for many reasons. Whatever my reasons, or yours for that matter, these days it is getting harder and harder to do things quietly and covertly. I am not talking illegal things, just doing things without people knowing your every move. I often think about ways to do things more quietly. Here are just a few ideas:
- Use cash even if you could have used a debit card
- Don't freely give out your address or phone number
- Use a postal box
- Mail letters with stamps, but watch out for size limitations
- Use pay phones, if you can find one
- Try using multiple email accounts and abandon them from time to time
- Use store or library computers
- Use postal or Wal-Mart money orders to avoid revealing your bank accounts to certain parties
- Try Hushmail or Anonomizer for email and Internet viewing
- Don't always use electronic toll payment devices like EZ Pass
- Don't always use store savings or rewards cards
- Turn off your cell phone sometimes to avoid having your movements monitored
- Wear hats and sunglasses when going into a heavily camera monitored area
You are entitled to privacy and anonymity in your life-- as long as you aren't concealing illegal activities, there is nothing wrong with this approach.
