Just not the way you think. Yes, I believe in the zombie apocalypse, but not the way you and many other people would imagine. I don't believe we will face flesh eating mutants or the living dead from some government nuclear or virus experiment gone wrong like in the movies or in video games.

That said, there are zombies among us who will appear in times of real trouble. You may know many of them, or you might be one of them. Who are they?

• Family
• Friends
• Neighbors
• Acquaintances
• Strangers

Still don't see what I am getting at? Think of those people you know who:

• Don't prepare for the worst
• Laugh at you for preparing
• Have no skills for survival (Short-term or long-term)
• Stored no tools, food, or water

What do you think they will be like in times of trouble?

• At best, they will be on their roof during the flood waiting for big government rescue
• At worst, they will be crazed looters ransacking stores and homes and fighting for scraps on food lines

By the way, if they laughed at you for preparing . . . where do you think they will go in the hour of need? That's right-- straight to you!

Desperation, due to lack of emergency preparation, will turn them into zombies . . .

What can you do to avoid them?

• Don't discuss your preps
• Hide your preps
• Make it look like nothing is special about you
• Appear to be helpless-- just like them

When I think about "zombies", I often think about an episode of the Twilight Zone, "The Shelter". This episode all about this post . . . Good friends and neighbors made fun of the doctor for building and stocking a bomb shelter for his family. When a scare came. those same friends and neighbors turned crazed, ruthless, and violent, as they suddenly felt "entitled" to be in the shelter with the food, water, and supplies in the time of need. They became zombies and ultimately destroyed the shelter trying to break into it . . . 

I can see zombies among us . . . can you see them?
