Preparedness, 2012 and the EOTWAWKI

The world will come to an end someday, but probably not in 2012. I am fond of saying that things are possible, but not probable.
That said, the realists among us we quickly see that emergency preparedness isn't for the end of the world-- it is for:
- Job/Income loss or disruption
- Energy or resource disruption
- Illness
- Financial problems
- Economic issues
- Acts of God
- Natural Disasters
- Civil unrest
- Unknown events
- War
What are some ways to prepare for disaster?
- Live more frugally
- Get out of debt
- Save money
- Store food and water reserves
- Have alternate income sources
- Be ready to operate without electricity for a while
- Keep extra fuel, but be ready to run out
- Know how to do things DIY projects can help
Be prepared-- better to be prepared for trouble and have none, than to have trouble and not be prepared to deal with it.
Being more self reliant isn't just a noble pursuit, it could save you from ruin . . .
