Wild Game Recipes: Sauteed Frog Legs

I have eaten frog legs a few times in my life, the first time was in Canada at age seven (I was an adventurous kid when it came to trying the unusual for a kid). I have never made my own and my plan is to do so this year. They are like eating a very tender chicken wing with garlic and butter (However, they don't really taste like chicken).

Catching frogs is fun-- here is how I used to do it as a kid:

  • Hands
  • Net
  • Fishing fly on a line

This summer, I will probably go with a flashlight and a net . . .

This is a very simple recipe based in large part on my fish recipes.

Here is what you need:

  • 4-6 pairs of frog legs
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2-4 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of sherry or white wine
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1 dash of salt
  • 1 dash of pepper

Here is what to do:

  • Put all ingredients in a skillet on medium heat
  • Sautee 10-15 minutes

Serve with veggies and a starch (pasta, rice, or potato).

Time to get hopping . . .

I will follow up with posts and pictures of the process.
