Cooking From Scratch: Salt and Sugar Substitutes

Self reliant people need to be healthy-- many seek to reduce salt and sugar intake.
When trying to cut back on salts and sugars, one needs substitutes, here are a few ideas--

Instead of salt try:

  • Horseradish (Try this on steak or tomatoes!)
  • Garlic
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Tabasco
  • Vinegar
  • Lemon
  • Basil (Fresh is great on anything!)
  • Pepper

Instead of sugar try:

  • Honey
  • Orange or other juice
  • Cinnamon
  • Mint

Then again, there is always salt or sugar in moderation . . .
