Self Reliant Unemployment Insurance

There is much attention being paid to the extension of unemployment benefits for "99ers"-- people who have been on unemployment for 99 weeks and recently got another 56 weeks. I guess that makes them "155ers" now. I was thinking about the self created unemployment insurance of self reliant people. This self reliant unemployment insurance would include:
- Well funded emergency fund of 6-12 months of basic living expenses
- Defensive entrepreneurial business
- Multipreneuring
- Emergency food preps (Not just for the EOTWAWKI, but for a job loss too)
- Minimized expenses
- Can-do attitude with the self reliant skills to match
- Family support network
Much of this list is common sense. This list requires planning and forethought as well as the discipline to implement it. Most modern families would collapse without outside aid today-- they have been institutionalized. They are not self reliant. I don't know about you, but I refuse to be like them.

NO ONE received 155 weeks of Unemployment benefits. In fact, very few even received 99 weeks. One state took it upon themselves to extend benefits for 99ers for another 6 weeks, but half way through it ran out of funds for it. PLEASE, PLEASE do your homework and fact check, there is so much misinformation out there regarding this right now and it is really and truly hurting people.

This information is incorrect! The maximum amount of weeks you can receive is 99 weeks - and not ALL states get that. I don't know where you came up with the other 56 weeks, if you know something I don't, please tell me. I reached my 99 weeks in March 2010 and have not received a check since, nor can I find a job! Not as easy as everyone thinks.
If you are referring to the extension of DEADLINES to file for EUC08 (up to 99 weeks) that was passed in Dec. 2010, the 99ers were NOT INLUDED! That gave individuals who were unemployed and not yet collected Tiers 1 - 4 a chance to do so. It in NO WAY gave additional weeks of benefits. 99ers ARE 99ers and that is it!
