Survival Gear Essentials: Headlamp for Night Hiking, Camping, and Working

A critical piece of survival equipment for self reliant individuals is a headlamp for night hiking, camping, and working-- it is a survival gear essential. Hiking, camping, or working sometimes means nocturnal or pre-dawn activity. Because of that, I need a good headlamp that has both bright white LED and bright night vision red lamp.

Personally, I use a three way LED Coleman headlamp. It has two level of bright white light and one setting of bright red light to preserve night vision.

I use the red light for to preserve my night vision. I use the white light to travel to and from a location.

Beyond night hiking, camping, or work, this type of headlamp is good for other activities as well. I have used it for fishing, auto repair, and work in the dark around the house. Clearly, as a Coleman product, it is ideal for camping and the like.
