Cooking From Scratch: Homemade Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Homemade creamy mashed potatoes are serious comfort food.
Prep time is about 10-15 minutes.

Here's what you need:

  • 5 lbs. of potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup of sour cream
  • 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 2 dashes of salt
  • 2 dashes of fresh ground pepper

Here's what to do:

  • Put the potatoes in a pot and cover with cold water
  • Boil the potatoes until soft-- 20-30 minutes
  • Mash the potatoes with a masher or a large fork
  • Add other ingredients and mix (we use a power mixer)

If you like "thinner" mashed potatoes, add more milk (slowly).
