Learning How To . . .

Here at the Self Reliance Workshop, I post plenty of "How To" posts-- I have many more coming. Today, I spent time learning how to do something. What I learned today isn't as important as what went through my mind as I learned it. Specifically, it got me thinking about what it took to learn it. Here is some of what I came up with:
- Mustering patience
- Researching the process
- Planning the steps
- Thinking and rethinking
- Applying prior or related knowledge
- Using logic and common sense
- Practicing trial and error
- Acquiring and using the right tools
- Having the determination to get "it" right
- Mustering more patience
- Paying attention to the "Ah-Ha!" moment
- Mentally recording the way to do it
If you stop to think about the last "How To" project you tackled, this stuff should sound very familiar . . .
One aspect of learning how to is the first time will almost always take a long time. The next time will usually be a fraction of the original task. I firmly believe that practice makes better and ultimately it makes the complicated simply routine.
Continue to think, learn, and grow . . .
