Frugal People Buy Tools, Not Gadgets

I have addressed this topic in one form or another before on DivorcedDadFrugalDad.com,
but it never hurts to take slightly different look . . . it applies to self reliant people too.

If you are frugal-- you want tools, not gadgets.  Specifically, tools that save you time or money.  Even better would be tools that can make you money.

Everything else is a "nice to have" gadget.  Here is what you should think about when considering acquiring something:

  • What does it do?
  • How often will you use it?
  • Can you rent it?
  • Would used work as good as new?
  • Will it save you time or money?
  • Will it make you money?
  • Will it produce a "better" result?

Here is a strategy-- let other people give you the gadgets and make sure you acquire the tools.
