Self Reliance: Basic Needs and Skills
The basic skills of the self reliant really come back to the very basics:
- Food-- Do you have a supply of food? Can you produce or procure your own food? Can you store it? Can you prepare it?
- Clothing-- Do your have warm and cold weather clothing? Can you produce, procure, clean, and repair your own clothing?
- Shelter-- Do you have shelter? Can you build, maintain, repair a home or shelter?
- Transportation-- Do you have transportation? Alternate transportation? Can you maintain and repair it?
- Communication-- Do you multiple forms of communication?
- Tools-- Do you have them and do you know how to use and maintain them?
- Health-- Can you protect yourself? Can you provide care if you are sick or injured?
- Wealth-- Do you have assets? Can you produce more? Is your income volatile?
If you answered "no" to any of the above, it is time to learn and prepare. Your time of need may never come, but if it does and you failed to be ready, God help you.
Luckily, all of these topics will be touched on here at the Self Reliance Workshop.
