First Aid Tips: Three Ounces of Prevention When Outdoors

When it comes to most things, I try to be proactive-- this includes first aid.
Therefore, today's first aid tips post is more preventative in nature.

In the Spring, with the weather improving, we will all be spending more time outdoors and there are some precautions we can all benefit from. Before going out to work or play in the elements, be sure to:

  • Hydrate yourself (with water)
  • Sunblock your exposed skin (SPF 30 or above)
  • Bug spray your skin and clothes (Deet works-- just wash it off later)

Why invite trouble?

Now, if you fail to follow this advice, then:

  • Get in the shade and get liquid fast to cool your body down
  • Move out of the sun and apply cold pressed aloe vera to your sunburn
  • Use Calamine lotion on the bites and consider taking an antihistamine

What steps do you take?
