Disaster Strikes: Things You Should Have Had Beforehand

A natural or other disaster strikes-- were you prepared? Self reliant people know to try and help yourselves. A key way to do that is to prepare beforehand. What should you have before a disaster strikes? Here are some ideas:

  • Hunting and fishing licenses, skills, and equipment
  • Camping skills and equipment
  • Maps and knowledge of your surrounding areas
  • First aid supplies and skills
  • Weather radio and other alternative communications tools
  • General supplies, tools, and skills
  • Contingency plans

If you possess these things before disaster strikes, you won't have to scramble with all the other "Last Minute Charlies"-- rather you can calmly tend to your family and weather the proverbial storm.
