Cooking From Scratch: How to Make Your Own Homemade Brown Gravy




Here is a quick how to make your own homemade brown gravy recipe.  Prep time is about ten minutes.

Here's what you need:

  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 2 tablespoons of butter or drippings (from a roast)
  • 1 small diced onion
  • 2-3 cups of beef broth/stock
  • Dash of salt and/or pepper to taste


Here's what to do:

  • Melt the butter
  • Add onion and salt and pepper
  • Work in the flour
  • Slowly mix/whisk in the broth
  • Gradually increase until it boils
  • Reduce and simmer until serving


Nice on beef, pork, chicken, or vegetables.

Enjoy.
