Self Reliance is About Power . . .
True, self reliance takes a little work, but the payoff is power and taking personal responsibility for you and your family. Your efforts to be more self reliant should result in you taking power away from others, and putting it back in your hands where it belongs. This has an impact in many areas of your life including:
- Finances
- Food
- Energy
- DIY
- Taxes
I don't know about you, but I don't like being at the mercy of others. Let's look at just a few examples:
- Finances- Paying cash or using large down payments helps you get more favorable credit terms or avoid finance interest and fees all together
- Food- Growing or making your own food allows you to control cost and quality. Why should some cereal company tell you to pay $5/box for some flakes?
- Energy consumption- By maintaining your car and following a few simple tips and tricks you can improve your gas mileage. Cutting your own firewood can offset or eliminate out-of-pocket heating costs
- DIY projects- Save you from ridiculous mark-ups or give you the knowledge to know a fair deal from a mechanic or home improvement contractor (They make their real money off peoples ignorance)
- Taxes- Managing your withholding, having your own businesses, and DIY projects all save you taxes
My advice- Take back the power back from:
- Credit card and finance companies and banks
- Grocery stores, distributors, and food manufacturers
- Oil and utility companies
- Repairman, tradesmen, mechanics, and contractors
- City, state and federal governments
Self reliance lets you be the boss and be empowered-- so take control by starting today.
